Mayfair Dip (Inspired by the Sklar Family)

When comedian twins, Jason and Randy Sklar, were on Hey Sis, Eat This, their absolute favorite recipe Momma Annette makes is the her famous, Mayfair dip. Just like Momma Ashley and her brownies, Annette refuses to share her treasured secret recipe with us. So, we decided to do some research and come up with our very own Hey Sis, Eat This version. So here it goes....

Mayfair Dip Inspired By The Sklar Family

Why it's on our list

The origins of Mayfair dressing in St. Louis can be traced back to the Mayfair Hotel, which opened in the city in 1925. The hotel became known for its upscale dining and elegant atmosphere but their true legacy is in their famous salad dressing. The Mayfair dressing itself became a staple in local restaurants and households and a beloved accompaniment for salads and cold dishes throughout the city.

Our guests, the Sklar Brothers, all time favorite recipe that their Momma Annette makes is "Mayfair Dip", a take on the famous salad dressing. They love eating the dip with raw vegetables such as cauliflower and carrots but after making the dip/dressing, we think it would be remarkable with just about anything, potato chips, crisp romaine, roasted vegetables... Its creamy, tangy profile which includes, anchovy, lemon, and mayonnaise makes it a versatile dressing that's perfect for salads, as a dip or even over pasta.

With excellent reason, Momma Annette Sklar refuses to share her particular "Mayfair Dip" recipe so we did a little research to develop our own version. We think it turned out pretty good and hope this one would make Momma Annette proud!
