Momma Adrienne's Matzah Ball Soup

Momma Adrienne's famous Matzah Ball Soup is in the freezer, on the ready, waiting to comfort your soul.

Momma Adrienne's Matzah Ball Soup

Why it's on our list

When the Mannis sisters were on Hey Sis, they talked about how thoughtful and generous their mother Adrienne is. If anyone she knows is going through something, sick or in need of some TLC, Momma Adrienne is there in a flash with her famous Matzah Ball Soup. This Jewish penicillin is the perfect remedy to any situation and Jodi and Stacy carry on the tradition by making their own versions today. However, according to Jodi's kids, grandma's reigns supreme.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups cold water

  • 8 small Knorr chicken boullion cubes

  • 4 large carrots peeled (cut into 4's)

  • 1 large parsnip peeled (cut into 4's)

  • 1 small bunch parsley (ling ends trimmed and discarded)

  • 1 medium yellow onion whole (peeled)

  • 1 package of chicken party wings

  • 1 box Manischewitz Matzo Ball Mix

Directions

Put everything except the bouillon cubes into a pot, cover, turn on high & bring to a boil.

Once boiled-  add bouillon cubes & reduce heat to low and simmer  for at least 2hrs.

Separate broth from vegetables. Discard the onion & parsley.

(Broth is even more delicious made a day in advance.  If you choose to do so, bring to room temp before storing it in your refrigerator. Before you reheat the soup, be sure to skim the fat off the top & discard it so it doesn't broth become oily. We make large batches & freeze the broth to use in other recipes when it calls for broth-- makes the recipe that much better than boxed or can broth- esp rice & couscous recipes!)

Once soup is almost done. Make a box of Matzo Ball Mix as Directed.

Assemble each bowl with equal parts soup, matzah balls & pieces of carrots/parsnips. ENJOY

Serve it up!
